Agoria won the World Solar Challenge

After trying for 16 years, the Belgian team Agoria have finally won their first World Solar Challenge from Darvin Adelaide after being fired by the race leader.

Team Bluepoint's victory on Thursday came on a dramatic day as leaders and champions of the champions Vattenfall's NunaX car escaped from the ash about 260 kilometers from the finish line following a fire.

A few minutes after Agoria crossed the line, the Japanese team at Tokai University finished second in Tokai Challenger, while third place went to the University of Michigan at Electrum.

Last day's drama for Vattenfall came after another Dutch team, Solar Team Twente, dropped out of the race, taking the lead on Wednesday as the wind struck northern South Australia.
