Siberia: conference on young Russian Catholics in Novosibirsk

The conference of the diocese of the Transfiguration, dedicated to youth pastoral work, ended yesterday in Berdsk, Siberia, in the Novosibirsk region, in conjunction with the Synod of Bishops underway at the Vatican. The diocese is located in a territory that has over 25 million people of whom only 2% are Catholics. The participants were mainly priests and consecrated persons. Speakers included a sociologist from the University of Tomsk, who presented an extensive analysis of the situation of Russian youth, and a family engaged in youth ministry. A whole day was dedicated to reflection on the protection of children and young people from sexual abuse, with speeches by the Polish Jesuit father Adam Zak. At the end of the work, from Novosibirsk the Italian Franciscan missionary father in Siberia Corrado Trabucchi illustrated the conclusions and contents of the conference
