Svastika spray painted North Perth sidewalk: Police
The Perth OPP is investigating after the swastika was spray-painted on the North Perth City Government sidewalk - for the second time in weeks, a symbol of anti-Semites has been painted in southwestern Ontario.
Police said the graffiti was painted blue from March 29 to April 2 on the back wall of a house on Kemp Street and they are investigating the incident as a hate crime. They are also investigating another incident where the same blue color was used in the Allison court in the area where the swastika was located with a fence and pickup truck.
Perth County OPP said Tuesday that the alleged incident occurred last Thursday after two men had disputed. After admission to the hospital, the complainant contacted police on Friday.
A 21-year-old West Perth man has been charged with aggravated assault, police said. He turned himself into Sebringville's headquarters and is due May 13 in Stratford Court.
